PREPARATION

"Now it’s no long time to the Olympic Games. The youngsters from Cottbus and the federal state Brandenburg had the final team meeting end of June. Nearly all German participants of the youth exchange organized by Everything is possible, Cottbuser Sportjugend/Brandenburgische Sportjugend were part of this meeting.
All youngsters looking forward to the exchange and are excited to meet the youngsters from Leeds/Bradford and the games. In our meeting the youngsters presented a short power point with their own profile and with their own sport. We have a great mix of all kinds of sports (Cycling, athletics, table tennis, boxing, soccer …).
We practiced some kind of sports for example boxing and cycling (on a role which use the professionals when the warm up).

Our social background is mixed too. In the group, there are pupils, students, employees, migrants (polish and Turkish) and volunteers for gap year. One guy of us is disabled. He is a sportsman (athletics) and his intention is to start by the Paralympics of Rio de Janeiro 2016.

During the meeting we talked about the history of the Olympic and Paralympic games. Of course we checked the English knowledge of the participants … with some songs (karaoke) on the PlayStation. The result is that all can speak English but not singing ;-)

Our big task was to find some funders for the Olympic-tickets. It was not easy. But the entire group “fought” for the destination, live to see the Olympic games in London. So we were successful.

In the pictures you can see some of the participants (group photo, team meeting and cycling).

We invite you to come in our Facebook group “London jump through the rings 2012”. Administrator of the group is (Guido Cools, Jule Hartstock and Kay Havenstein). Look for these names and they add you to the group."

Kay Havenstein, german leader of the Youth Exchange.
